9 Days Tanzania Wildebeest Migration Safari

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Moshi Pickup & Materuni Waterfalls Trek

Your safari in Tanzania begins with collection from Moshi. After hotel check-in, set out on a guided trek to Materuni Waterfalls, framed by Kilimanjaro’s slopes. Pause for lunch before returning to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Serengeti Transfer & Game Drive

Following breakfast, travel by 4×4 to Serengeti National Park. Arrive in time for lunch, then head out on your first safari tour in Tanzania. Watch for lions, buffaloes, elephants, black rhinos and leopards—the true Big Five—alongside herds of Grant’s zebras, Thomson’s gazelles, elands, hippos and waterbucks. Return at dusk for dinner and overnight camp accommodation.

Days 3–4: Northern Serengeti Exploration

Rise early for two full days of safari drives in Serengeti’s Kogatende sector. As you follow the migrating herds, you may witness wildebeest and zebra braving the Mara River, with crocodiles lurking and predators like cheetahs and hyenas in pursuit. Picnic lunches under acacia trees break up morning and afternoon wildlife searches for giraffes, impalas, warthogs and other plains species. Nights spent at a northern Serengeti camp.

Day 5: Serengeti → Ngorongoro + Rim Walk

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Safari → Zanzibar

Load up a picnic and descend 600 m into the crater floor for a half-day safari—home to elephants, lions, buffaloes, black rhinos, hippos and abundant plains game like zebra, gazelle and waterbuck. After a lakeside lunch by Lake Magadi, return to Arusha for your short flight to Zanzibar. On arrival, transfer to your beach resort for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Stone Town & Prison Island + Spice Tour

Enjoy breakfast, then explore Stone Town’s winding streets and historic sites. Next, board a boat to Prison Island (Changuu) to meet giant tortoises and snorkel in clear waters. Return to Stone Town for a guided tour of spice plantations—discovering clove, cinnamon and nutmeg trees—before heading back to your Zanzibar resort for dinner.
